Who or what is Experian?

Where does Experian get its data from?

As the UK’s leading Credit Reference Agency, many financial organisations share data on their consumer’s to Experian. Data is shared and processed under the Credit Reference Agency Information Notice (CRAIN)

Why do consumers need to provide consent for data to be shared to View My Chain by Experian?

To provide the data service to View My Chain, Experian can only provide this service under the lawful grounds of processing of Explicit Consent.

View My Chain is providing a data service that requires Experian to share consumer data that has been shared to Experian by a mortgage lender which forms part of the regulated Credit Bureau. Therefore, for Experian to share the consumer data with View My Chain, the consumer must provide their explicit consent in order for their data to be processed.

How will consumer information be shared with Experian?

View My Chain will send a batch file of consumer records to Experian on a frequency that is appropriate for the service. To do so, Experian adopts the highest levels of security protocols to ensure that the data is transferred securely between both View My Chain and Experian.

Information that is shared with Experian

View My Chain will share the minimum information but will include but not limited to Salutation, First name, Family name, Date of birth, current address and future property address.

How long does it take for the information to be returned by Experian?

Where Experian is able to identify the correct information, it will return the requested information the next working day. Experian will continue to monitor for any changes on an ongoing basis on the customer files provided by View My Chain.

Can a consumer check what information Experian has about them?

Yes, a consumer can make a Data Subject Access Request through the Experian.co.uk website
